Jim Truett for Mayor of Huntsville

Dear Huntsville Friends and Neighbors,

It has been my pleasure serving Huntsville residents as a Council Member over the past six years. I love Huntsville and ask for your support in the mayoral race in the upcoming election. I recognize that we live in a Town that is unique from all other towns across the nation.  I will continue striving to protect our small town values and lifestyle to ensure Huntsville Town is a better place to live now, while preserving it for future generations.

Issues Facing Huntsville

There are still many projects and issues facing Huntsville that need to be addressed:

•    Unification throughout the town
•    Culinary Water
•    Establish more lines of open communication throughout the town
•    Securement of Valley Elementary School property
•    Enforcement of Ordinances
•    Annexation and Zoning
•    Responsible Growth and Development
•    Preservation and beautification of Huntsville
•    Reestablish Town Board of Appeals
•    Protect our Parks and other Huntsville Resources
•    Powder Mountain Incorporation (the negative impact it will have on our community)
•    Rebuild our traditions - 4th of July, Fall Festival, Winter Festival

These issues are extremely important to me and will have a lasting impact on the shaping of not only the town, but the entire Valley.

Unifying The Town

Unifying the town will help us to tackle many of the other important issues.  Neighbors helping neighbors, the love of the town, bringing people out for town events and gatherings, utilizing our scout and church groups, and opening our lines of communication are just a few strategies to help us create a strong and unified community.

I will also strive to create a feeling of unity among the Town Council, knowing that we will have five independent thinkers on the Council with Huntsville’s best interest at heart.  Whether we agree or disagree on any issue, when the voting is complete, we can still walk out the door as friends.

Open communication is very important and I will continue to request and listen to citizens’ input. I was very supportive of the town survey of 2007 and Huntsville residents, through their overwhelming participation, showed they are just as interested and concerned about Huntsville’s well being as I am.  If you ever have an issue or concern that you feel needs to be addressed by the town council, you have an open invitation and will be put on the agenda of our Town Council meeting to be heard and recognized, no matter how long the agenda.

Huntsville Leadership Experience

Over the years I have served in nearly every town department and have led many projects such as:

•    Roads and Snow plowing
•    Utilities
•    Landfill
•    Cemetery
•    Mayor Pro Tempe
•    Liaison with Forest Service, Tree Committee, Schools and Special districts
•    Planning Commission Member representing Town Council
•    Huntsville Secondary Water board member representing Town Council
•    Event Coordinator (4th of July and Winter Carnival)
•    Upgraded Street signs and Welcome to Huntsville sign

I would appreciate your vote in the upcoming election and promise to continue serving with the upmost integrity and honesty, love of community, and dependability while working to preserve our small town values and way of life.

Feel free to contact me regarding the above listed issues or any other town issues.

Sincerely,

Jim A. Truett
